Walburga “Wally” Erhart

5. Dec 201820. Jan 2020Leave a comment

I recently bought an album of old postcards on eBay. It turned out the postcards were all sent to one woman over the course of 45 years. Her name was Wally (short for Walburga) Erhart. For being so passionate about collecting all her postcards as keepsake, I felt like I need to blog about her. … Continue reading Walburga “Wally” Erhart

Instagram

I've been a little unmotivated to post cause I've had to test @instagram 's new full-screen design and it kills photography and story-telling for me. Unless you're a tiktok and video friend and don't share any longer captions to your videos, this new design is rubbish and I sincerely hope Instagram will not apply this for everyone after their testing period. Vertical full-screen photos may survive this change, but not horizontal or square photos, they look ridiculously tiny on a full screen. And if you want to read someone's caption, you have to click for it to blend onto the photo in a small white almost see-through font. I feel really sorry for all the story-tellers among us, including myself, as well as small businesses, cause all the captions become so secondary. I already ranted about this in my Stories, but in case you missed it, I've included some examples from my own feed as well as from the accounts that I appreciate equally for their photos as well as for their captions. I love your accounts so much but feel like Instagram's new design won't do you any justice.

The joy of a moment in space and time!
For today's #weddingwednesday I have another French mystery for you🧐🔍. The way I understand it, this is a wedding photo of one Jacqueline Jamin from 1946 and it was gifted to Renee and Yves Jamin, right?
Twinning Tuesday😄
Another French mystery🕵‍♀️🕵‍♂️🔍 I asked you guys in my Story how you would read the surname of the grandparents. I thought it read Cellier, you also offered Eellier, Tellier, Erllier. I also understand that these are grandparents with their daughter and grand-daughter. Was the grand-daughter's name Orio? Orio probably had her daddy's surname, and not her maternal grandparents'. I would date the photo to early 1910s. But I have no other clues, where it might have been taken.🤷🏼‍♀️ Anything else you notice?🧐🔍
UPDATED Thank you, wonderful community🥳👏! The surname is Scherzer instead! And perhaps we might have found the siblings:
Good news on this #weddingwednesday 🥳🎉 - this wedding photo from 1930 is going home to its family in France!💕 I didn't even get to share my findings with you. 🤓 But sometimes synchronicity happens fast and they've been found now!🙏
As you know, I mostly collect pre-1950s photos, but here's a more recent snapshot that was just too cute to pass. Unfortunately it has no information or clues as to names or location. Does anyone recognise the model of the car? This could give us a clue as to when the photo was taken.
